Haiti STUFF

I haven't posted too much lately, partly because I was sick and catching up on stateside work I'd neglected, but also packing and shopping for Haiti. Oh my goodness... we have the Best sponsors. Every time I'd get Haiti stuff packed away and organized more stuff would come in and the chaos would begin again !! Really!! My big dilema is always how to get stuff to Haiti (hopefully now we'll be able to ship boxes down for the not so heavy stuff). I'd like to send 2 boxes each month, knowing that it takes up to 3 months for me to receive on the other end. If I ship every month with regularly needed items, we should have a steady flow coming in.

Just in case someone wants to know ( & help ;-)
It costs $112 to send a 300 lb. box. Items we always need include: diapers- size 3 &4; infant formula; shampoo; baby powder; peanut butter; childrens shoes- dress shoes, flip-flops & especially tennis shoes in size 10 child - 10 adult (new or like-new); childrens shorts & t-shirts (new or like-new); deodorant; soap; children's meds i.e. tylenol, ibuprofen, allergy, cough & cold meds,vitamins-with iron, antibiotic ointment, lice shampoo (for scabies); twin sized sheets & towels. Items for the school include bookbags, navy blue uniforms and new or like new books.

Suggested Sponsor gifts include shorts, skirts, & shirts; sandals or tennis shoes; toothbrush & paste; underwear; soap; peanut butter; jewelry or watch; small sturdy toys such as cars, balls, & dolls. Place items in a plastic grocery bag and mark outside with child's name. Please Do Not send candy, crackers, stuffed animals or markers. Clothing should be for summer weather- no long pants or jeans, please.
