Haiti--Day Two

Remember all those bags at the front of the church??? It took a little bit longer unpacking than it did to pack 22 bags and two trunks. Thanks to all of you who helped gather supplies both for the orphanage and for us. We are already using much of what was sent. Shoes and clothes get sorted tomorrow, swings and tools were used today, and peanut butter will be eaten all week (GRATEFULLY!!!). Of course someone who is supposed to be on a diet (by military order) snuck M&M's down, but we won't mention that, or will we?? Hey Pastor Steve, you had better check in with your accountability partner.(HA, HA)

Our guys were really handy today, building swings, a monkey bar set, and a couch! Meanwhile, Gloria's talents were well used on many of the neighborhood children who were quite ill. Most likely her day will be busier tomorrow once word spreads that she is here.

Taking care of physical needs in the morning and spiritual in the afternoon, the majority of our troupe headed up the mountain for a worship service with some of our Haitian brothers and sisters. Travel began in a truck but ended by an arduous hike up a steep and rocky path. Then back down again, each of us flocked on both sides by smiling, loving children.

For those of us who were not up for the hike up the mountain, we still had work to do. We cut out most of the flannel graph Dori, and measured and cut fabric for curtains for the orphanage windows.

Tomorrow?? Wait and see!!
