A symbol of Hope

This flag was a symbol of hope & victory this week. Usually the flag of Haiti only reminds me of how corrupt the government is here, but not this week. We had a kind of rough start to our school year. Satan was really working overtime to see that school didn't start at all. We had to delay the opening day for more than a week. Then our headmaster & his teacher wife quit. Then we found out 2 more teachers weren't coming back. We had a meeting with the parents ( about 75 or more attended) and we were able to tell them, " This mission is God's plan. Satan wants to stop it, but God says that when he begins a good work, He finishes it. So even though we aren't ready and we don't have all the books or enough teachers, school will begin tomorrow. We'll just do the best we can and we are asking you to help us, and God's work will continue." And God blessed.

We had 2 returning teachers and 2 new teachers for 165 children on the 1st day, but we filled in with people from the church & community. By the 4th day we had seen amazing answers to prayer and had a teacher in all 7 classrooms.

When I saw all those children singing praises and the flag going up I knew that Satan had intended to stop God's plan, but God took what Satan intended for evil and turned it into something good & beautiful. The people of Bercy chose not
to allow Satan to win, and God had the victory.
