This is Sonise Etienne ( on the right) and her sister Louimene. Both of these girls attend our school. They are sponsored by 2 sisters at Crown Point Baptist.
When Steve & Gloria were here in June, we visited them at home and met the rest of the family. This is Mom, and little sis Blonda and their little brother. There is also a baby inside the house asleep. It is easy to see how much more healthy the 2 older girls are than the rest of the family. Sonise and Louimene are fed 2 meals and given vitamins each day at school. The younger children don't go to school. Their hair is losing pigment and turning orange and then blond from malnutrition. They have open sores and impetigo from bad water and lack of treatment. Both children have scabies.
What a difference it makes when Christians open their hearts to these children and share the blessings God has given them by sponsoring a child. Children can be sponsored for $50/month, maybe that's a project your family or class would like to take on. You can get to know your sponsor child through pictures & notes- or you can even go meet them 1st hand like the Thompson's did.
