New Shoes

This is Fabiola. She is a 4th grader in our school. Fabiola and the other children are very happy to get to go to school, not all Haitian children can go. It's not easy for These children to go to school- they get up & get ready very early- before daylight- and they have no electricity to light or cook with. They have no running water in their homes to wash their face with. Most of the time it's their chore to walk to the well and pump water into a 5 gallon bucket and then carry it back home -on their head. The children all walk to school. Some have to walk as far as 3 or 4 miles. There are no paved roads or sidewalks. They walk on a dusty, rocky path. It's hard and it's hot. But today I heard some news that is going to make it better for Fabiola and some of her friends. I talked to my friends from Georgia, the Maddox family, today. Their children, Josh, Alana Ruth, Grace, Sarah and Susie and the 4th & 5th grade girls SS class at their church are busy collecting shoes for the schoolchildren in Haiti! Fabiola doesn't have a good pair of matching shoes.... yet! Thank you Maddox's & the Girls SS class for caring. Fabiola is going to be soooo happy!
