Stuff by Karin White

2 Corinthians 9:7 (English Standard Version) Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

My visits to Haiti have changed my perspective in every area of my life. I look around my house and wonder "What STUFF would I take with me if I knew my home was about to be washed away?" "Could I carry everything I own in my hands and on my head?" After the hurricanes, this picture was taken of a lady in Haiti. She had her life and her "stuff".

In Haiti, I realized that I've never JUST had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich as my only meal of the day. I have almost any amount of "stuff" that I want to eat.

When my house seems too small, too out of date and the mortgage seems too overwhelming, I remember the needs of my friends in Haiti and I'm thankful for God's blessings. I strive to not hold on too tightly to my "stuff". When I look for the ways that He has blessed me, I give thanks to God. He cares for my family abundantly. Today, I'm overwhelmed to think that He ALLOWS me to reach out to His people and give from the many blessings that He has showered on me!!!
