More sick kids

Yesterday a mama brought a baby girl in. She was asking for help. The baby girl had a rash on her bottom- mama said scabies- and was very uncomfortable. I don't think it was scabies- she didn't have it anywhere else. In Haiti babies typically are not diapered. Everyone uses the ground as a toilet-so why should you put a diaper that you have to wash between them and the ground where everyone else goes? I suspect this baby had sat undiapered in the dirt and been bitten by some kind of creepy-crawly. I suggested diapers and gave them some cream.

Then I asked about the 4 year old boy that was with them. They said he was fine, but I had heard him coughing and could see he was struggling to breathe. When I hugged him I found he had quite a fever, so I started cheking him out, too. His temp was over 102 (in the morning), and I could hear him wheezing with every breath, his hair was red, and his caregiver hadn't even noticed he was sick.

Thanks to all the help with meds I got last month I was able to fix them up! This family goes to our church so I'll be able to keep a close watch on them both and be sure they are progressing. I don't want anymore like the one in the previous post! Pray for wisdom for us and provision of resources to give care to those who so desperately need it.
