Team Bonding !
Mrs. Margaret & Lori bonded in a special way on their mission trip ;-)
When we have a team down, I try and have a couple of people join me for whatever Mission business? or tasks that need attending to. I want them to gain a better understanding of what it's like to live in Haiti and what the mission does in the village of Bercy. This is the child of one of our employees, who brought her to me because she has fevers at night. She also had an ear infection, both inside & outside of her ear. We started her on meds for the fever & infection, but part of her problem was a severe case of scabies. She had scratched and had impetigo in several places, including around her ear.
This is a common scenario and I didn't want the team to miss out on this experience, so I asked for volunteers to treat this little one with lice shampoo for her scabies. Mrs. Margaret & Lori jumped at this opportunity ;-)
It may not have been what they had planned for their morning, but they served with love. Neither had ever had this experience before, but gave it their best shot, with whole gaggle of Haitian onlookers (peanut gallery). Yes, we always put on quite the show for our Haitian friends. I'm sure if they had the cameras instead of us, they would wear them out taking pictures of all the funny stuff those crazy Americans do. Seriously, the things we do in Haiti are often not fun or glamorous, but the blessings are unbeatable. Knowing you are making someone more comfortable, those huge, wonderful Haitian smiles, those big, innocent brown eyes... some rewards come right away. And the stories you have to treasure an tell.....
