Our internet is down so Kelley is relaying messages from us for now. We promise photos when internet is restored.
On fri. we flew past Hannah returning to Haiti. We found the children and mission safe and undamaged.
We began feeling the effects of Ike around midnight sat. the worst of the storm hit from 2-3 a.m. not much wind, but torrential rain. Cabaret was flooded, several of our workers lost homes or all of their belongings. Roads and bridges have been washed away. We saw thousands of people headed south on foot, they have no where to go, but they cannot stay where they were. They have lost everything, homes, crops, and animals. They have no clean drinking water or food. It is an incredible sight. The Missions is in a very real way an island of safety in a sea of devastation. There was more rain this afternoon.
I saw a lady standing up to her knees in the mud of what had been the main highway here. She was singing “he hideth my soul in the depths of his love and shelters me there with his hand”. What a faith to still be singing when his hand is your only shelter.

I'm glad you guys are covering the recent event that took place in Cabaret. I'm from Cabaret and still have lots of family there. Thanks to God they are safe/rescue from Ike, but they're too are homeless. They're stay with other family member in Betsy which is 1/2 north of Cabaret.
We just sent some food for them and neighborhood friends. Please let me know how i can assist with you mission. Thanks
