Thank you all for continuing to pray for the Mandarin Baptist and Ocean Park Baptist mission teams while we are in Haiti this week! We went to the prison yesterday, on Wednesday, to feed the prisoners. The pastor and church members from the church here, Cabaret Baptist, also went with us to the prison. Groups of us would go from cell to cell and pray for and over the inmates, hoping that even a loving touch will help them. There are 12-15 people all crammed in a very small cell. Armando preached a message of hope and salvation in Jesus to them, and the church and pastor sang praise songs and played the accordian for them. The inmates typically only eat porridge twice a day...and we fed them a nice meal and juice. We all came away from this trip to the prison saying that we won't soon forget that experience.
The church is having a 43 days of prayer revival and have had services every night. The prayer revival will end on Sunday. Around 200 people come each night, all walking long distances to and from church in the dark, just to come to worship! Their dedication to the Lord is so evident.
There continues to be desperation and hunger among the people of Haiti. Please continue to pray for us but more importantly lift up the Merritt's and the Haitian people in prayer as well!
