April Newsletter

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you for faithfully supporting the JBA Haiti mission for these first ten years. I also would like to thank you for encouraging and praying for our family.

As you’ve probably heard through recent news coverage, Haiti is experiencing a food crisis. Although this crisis is not unique to Haiti and is being felt world-wide, Haiti is especially hard hit because they were already in a critical state. From our own observation, we feel that things in Haiti are even more desperate than the media is reporting. Desperate people sometimes resort to desperate actions. There has been rioting and violence shaking the newfound stability of recent months.

In our area things have remained relatively calm. There have been manifestations short distances from our mission, but we were warned about them ahead of time, took pre-cautions, prayed over the situation, and as always the Lord provided both peace & protection. We have seen some evidence of these manifestations and witnessed some more peaceful protests. Our own employees now must pay more for a ride in to work than they will receive in salary, however they continue to find a way to come to work in order to hold their position, hoping that things will improve and somehow the Lord will provide a way for them to feed their families.

We expect that before this situation improves many will find themselves unable to do just that and turn to the mission and church for help. It will take all of us to meet these desperate needs. Please consider presenting this need to your church, class, business, or friends. You can help through a one time donation, sponsorship of a child, or collecting needed items, but please help these who have already suffered unimaginable misery.

We have under construction a new blog for Child Sponsors called
“Sponsor a Cabaret Kid” . As we develop this site you will be able to go here and see your sponsored child and get more info about sponsorship.

Our church has just concluded a “43 Days of Prayer” revival. It is so humbling and inspiring to see the faithfulness of those experiencing so much suffering. There were services every day for 43 days, with joy filled worship, hearts joined and poured out in prayer, and many were saved! The revival ended on Sunday morning with a parade & band marching through the villages at 6 am! The whole community joined in marching, singing and carrying signs proclaiming that Jesus is Life and Satan can’t feed you!! How remarkable to witness celebration in the midst of suffering.

Once again, thank you for your faithfulness and sacrifices in order for the Gospel message to be sent, shown and proclaimed in Haiti and to the ends of the earth.
