Saturday

Today I woke up with Sarah's cold. Yuck! I had the slows all day because of it. I spent the early morning talking with Micheline & checking on everything to see what needed attention first. After making lists and getting the marketing and errand running tasks assigned- and dealing with the money matters that go with it- we decided we should first go into Cabaret and check on Adamise.
Adamise is our sweet, faithful laundry lady. She is always at work early and stays til she is finished. She has been out sick with a fever for a week. She wa sitting in a straight chair out in front of her house when we arrived. She looked sick, but happy to see us as always. She said her fever was getting better, but she was still not able to hold any food down. She seemed to have the same cold/sinus infection thingee going on as Sarah and I have. I asked her what she thought was wrong. She told me she was sick and had a fever- DUH! Oh yeah I'm in Haiti now- I sometimes forget where I am and expect the answers that the other place would give! In Haiti there is seldom a diagnosis, only symptoms. You treat the symptoms... if you can get any treatment at all. We gave her some meds for symptom relief, sat & chatted just a bit, prayed with her and went on to take care of other things.
Sarah stayed at home and supervised the BIG CLEANUP. We have 3 teams visiting in the next 2 weeks, so everything needs to be scrubbed/ mopped/ polished before they begin to arrive on Monday (we want them to come back again, after all). The older girls (& Fausterlie) helped her get a headstart on it. They're a great team & Sarah's a great organizer.
The afternoon brought a really fun task. Eight of the children have some kind of yucky, creepy, oozy skin rash- big bumps on their hands, feet & legs & bottoms. I bathed and scrubbed them all down, then took care of all the boo-boos & started them on a different antibiotic (looks like impetigo- but I don't know what it was to begin with). CRISTINA- where are you when I need you??!! By the way, JackJack is doing well, gaining weight & cruising everywhere& smiling. His aunt only came by once while we were away, but I heard she may be ill.
Well , that's about as much excitement as you can stand on a Saturday, LOL, hope yours was filled with sunshine, too.
