Yesterday I spent the morning conducting interviews and hiring 2 new teaching assistants. Then Rusty & I had an appointment and business to take care of in Port-au-Prince, so we abandoned our team!!

They didn't need us, they are quite capable on their own! However, I don't have any pictures of all the amazing things they accomplished, since I wasn't here. They did however, build a shelf for our water containers & build cabinets for the school, scrub down some really cruddy walls, and paint and put a ceiling in a classroom at the church.

Today we had our first day of medical clinic. They were fantastic... and they saw more than 150 patients!

Kim and Mike treated the patients...

Bree and Austin did triage, made charts, and took vitals (Note: Austin is invisible in this picture because he and Rusty were able to go to the airport midday today and reclaim his missing luggage- Yaay! No more blue shirt boy!).

Karen and Mark managed the pharmacy ( this is the hardest job of all because you have to straighten out stuff for the Drs. & you get the flack from the patients!)....

and Marie Joe helped hand out meds & give Kreyol instructions to the patients. All went very smoothly. It's a fun group, they keep it light while taking their work very seriously.

We saw some really sick children...

Some not as sick kids...

and were able to offer free family planning, as well. Everyone was invited to attend a Bible Study the team is having later in the week on sexual purity.

Respiratory illnesses were the most common diagnosis.

Sarah, Corey & Mrs. Margaret sang and told Bible stories to the children while they were waiting at the clinic.

(Aren't you glad you use Dial?)

(Don't you wish everyone did?) They are really singing songs like Father Abraham... and the children taught them a new version with some funk thrown in!!
